I write in response to Steve Earle’s letter (Monitor letters, March 27). He appears to be repeatedly looping narrow views of Democrats, Muslims and feminists without being open to others’ input and facts of the world.
Some Democrats and some Republicans defend Islam because they know that most Muslims are not terrorists. They criticize those conservatives who condemn all Muslims.
The terrorist network in Paris and Brussels is good at hiding. The assumption that “moderate” Muslims protect the terrorists is wrong.
Of huge concern to feminists is the treatment of women in countries like Saudi Arabia, genital mutilation in Africa and the kidnapping of girls for sex trade. It takes a long time to influence those countries, and feminists do work on it. When an organization in our country encourages suppression of women, of course feminists will speak up loudly.
