A Concord man is scheduled to face a judge next month in connection with an off-road chase by New Hampshire Fish and Game in August.
The driver, Jonathan Benedict, 30, faces drug and motor vehicle offenses in the Aug. 21 incident, which occurred off Garvin Falls Road in the city.
State conservation officers were patrolling the area near the power lines that afternoon when they came across an illegally parked car. One officer attempted to speak to Benedict, but he drove off on the trail leading into the woods, according to Fish and Game Sgt. Adam Cheney.
Cheney compared the incident to something out of Dukes of Hazzard. He explained that Benedict tried to jump the car over an approximately 3-foot sandy berm, which it cleared before crashing into a ditch on the other side.
After the crash, Benedict fled on foot, Cheney said. However, he was quickly apprehended.
Three other people were in the car at the time of the crash, but none were injured.
Benedict was wanted on a warrant out of Pittsfield at the time of the offense in Concord.
His arraignment is set for the morning of Oct. 13 in Concord’s district court.
