Allan Brown will round out the Warner Select Board, as the second, and final, interim member appointed. 

After interviewing a slate of seven candidates this week, board members Harry Seidel and Faith Minton selected Brown to join them in a deliberative session on Friday morning. 

Brown, 73, is a lifelong Warner resident. And with that, he has a history of serving the town.

From 1976 to 2010, Brown was the town’s director of public works. During this time, he led efforts to build a transfer station and recycling center in 1989.

Upon his retirement the Town of Warner’s annual report was dedicated to Brown.

“I’ve put in over half my life serving this town,” he said in an candidate interview this week.

Brown also knows what it’s like to be at the helm of town government. From 2014 to 2017 he served on Warner’s select board. This experience will lend a hand moving the town forward, said Minton. 

Six weeks after two select board members resigned unexpectedly the board is now fully restored. Both Minton and Brown will serve as interim members, with residents voting to fill their position at the Town Meeting in March. 

Under guidance from the New Hampshire Municipal Association, Minton and Seidel sought interest from a volunteers interest form for residents to serve on the board. Then, the held a public interview for the seven candidates at Town Hall, where each provided an introduction and fielded questions on the role of the select board in town and their volunteer history. 

But with unprecedented interest for the position, Minton hopes the town can harness the other candidates for other town positions. 

“There is going to be a place for everyone to engage and we need you,” said Minton at the meeting Tuesday. “The town needs you to move together.”
