Franklin Celebrate with Santa Lucia tea

On Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m., the Franklin Unitarian Universalist Church will celebrate the season with a Santa Lucia tea. This celebration is a holiday event originating in Sweden, and celebrates Santa Lucia as the patron saint of light. Women from the congregation will serve tea while the traditional ceremony is being held. Star boys and girls will begin the ceremony, followed by the awaited Santa Lucia, who will make an appearance in a white dress and crown made of lit candles. This program, in the past, has included instrumental music, poetry readings, dance performances, and songs all performed for a talent show. Later in the evening, carols will be led by Libby Danahy, a musician from the congregation. The event will take place at 206 Central St. at Unitarian Universalist Meeting House.

Concord Ag businesses can learn trends

Granite State College will host classes to teach local farmers how to understand the reasoning behind what people are purchasing from them and how to grow their business. This will help farmers to learn how to stay in the competition and what makes an agricultural business as successful as it can get. The classes take place every Wednesday from Jan. 10 to 31 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The course costs $65 per person, or $115 for two people from the same farm. Call Nada Haddad at 679-5616 or email at nada.haddad@nhu.edu for more information and accommodation requests.
