On Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium, the Concertmaster String Quartet offers “An Invitation to the Dance” as the fourth concert in the 88th season of Concord Community Concert Association. Concertmaster Elliott Markow, New Hampshire’s own leading concertmaster, brings his quartet to the Concord City Auditorium stage for a program of great classical music originally written for dancing: from Strauss waltzes, Piazzolla tangos, and Mozart Minuets to traditional polkas. Proving that classical music is contemporary – and even “entertaining” – the stage becomes alive with the dancing moves of Roman and Jennifer, the stars of Concord’s own Let’s Dance Company. The evening starts at 7 p.m. with a dessert party and popular “World of Music” Silent Auction. Tickets are $20 at the door and in advance at Gibson“s Bookstore and the UPS Store on South Main Street in Concord, and $23 online at concordcommunityconcerts.org. The all-ages show offers free admission to accompanying youth to age 18, making this a special opportunity for families to introduce children to the beauty of classical music.
