Monarchs rally

The Manchester Monarchs rallied from a 2-1 deficit with goals late in the second and third periods to beat the Springfield Falcons, 3-2, last night.

Brandon Kozun and Marc-Andre Cliche set up Thomas Hickey for the tying goal with 2:50 to play in the middle frame. Then, with the Monarchs skating a man down with Kozun off for elbowing, Cliche assisted Richard Clune for the shorthanded game-winner just 1:46 before the final buzzer. It was Clune's second goal of the season.

Nick Tarnasky put Springfield on the board just 3:08 into the game, but the Monarchs tied it 1:51 into the second on Justin Azevedo's sixth goal of the season. The Falcons regained the lead at the midpoint when Tarnasky assisted on Brent Regner's first goal of the season.

Both teams put 26 shots on net, with Manchester's Martin Jones earning the win with a 24-save effort.
