Coming Monday: a new weekly business page

Last modified: 12/12/2010 12:00:00 AM
Beginning tomorrow, the Monitor will publish a new weekly business page in the Monday newspaper.

The section will focus on economic news from the Concord region and the state. It's where you'll find interviews with intriguing businesspeople and news of local companies coming and going.

Tomorrow's section, for instance, will include an interview with the founder of the Boston Beer Co., maker of Samuel Adams lager, and news about a potential new car dealership - and new jobs - in Hillsboro.

The new business section will also be the home to small notices about local residents getting new jobs, promotions and awards.

The change will force the shuffling around of some regular features, and I want to give you a quick guide to what you'll find where.

First, the Sunday Monitor has long been the home of a weekly business events calendar. This, along with the businesspeople listings and brief items about local companies, will migrate to the Monday Business section.

In their place on the Sunday 'Your Business' page we will carry personal finance columns.

(You will find them on Page E2 today.)

Listings of local real estate transactions will also remain in the Sunday paper - also on the Your Business page.

On Mondays, the new business page will typically take the place of a Local & State page. That page has long been home to a regular photo column by veteran photographer Ken Williams - and recently became the home to a new photo column by staff photographer John Tully. These features will move to Saturdays.

To recap: business coverage on Mondays, photo columns on Saturdays, real estate listings on Sunday.

Check out the section tomorrow and, as always, let us know what you think.
