Sophomore Jaden Haas, a multi-sport athlete from Concord High School, has been on fire for the boys’ lacrosse team.

During this winter’s hockey season, he scored 11 goals while providing 16 assists in a season that was capped with a state championship.

Q: Tell us about your earliest memory of playing a sport.

For both hockey and lacrosse, I started at a very young age, both around 3 years old. I remember when I was first starting off in hockey, skating around with one of my best friends to this day, Tyler Morin. Those memories of us learning how to play hockey together are the ones we look back on the most.

Q: What other sports have you played, and what’s your favorite?

In the past couple of years, I have picked up golf, and I have grown to love playing it year-round with some of my friends and family. In the summer, I try to play competitively in a couple of tournaments.

My biggest inspirations are my parents and the work ethic they have instilled in me, whether it’s for sports or in school. They tell me every day how hard I have to work if I really want something, and to excel at whatever I wish to do.

Q: Who are some of your favorite athletes? Why?

Some of my favorite athletes are Kobe Bryant and Sidney Crosby. Growing up I liked these two athletes so much because of how hard they work on the ice and court. I loved watching how effortlessly they did each little move because of the amount of practice they put into their sports.

Q: What’s your go-to game-day meal?

Every game day, I make sure to get my bacon, egg and cheese from Bagel Works in downtown Concord.

Q: What’s your favorite memory of playing sports?

My favorite memory was this past year with my hockey team, as we fought through the D1 hockey playoffs and won the state championship. The team this year was so tight-knit and we all loved hanging out with each other every day which made it such a fun team to be a part of.

Q: What motivates you to work on your craft, whether it be in school, sports or another activity?

Something that motivates me to work on my craft is the time and effort my parents have put into me throughout my childhood in order for me to succeed. I think going out onto the field or in the classroom with a mindset of doing the best I can and showing up every day is what motivates me.

Q: What do you enjoy most about playing lacrosse? What do you want to keep improving on?

I enjoy how fast-paced lacrosse is, as the ball is always in motion, and seeing all of the different strategies that different teams use, especially in college. Taking face-offs was a choice that I made when I was 12-13 years old, and immediately I loved how I was in control, and that I could get my team possessions. Personally, I want to keep working every day at every aspect of the game to get to the next level.

Q: As a soon-to-be junior, what are you most looking forward to in your last two years of high school? Any fun summer plans?

Next year I will be attending St. Paul’s as a reclass sophomore, which I am super excited for academically and athletically. I look forward to working as hard as I can with the resources I am given at St. Paul’s.
