Concord High School track and field senior Ella Goulas recently won three NHIAA titles at the Division I state championship.

At Portsmouth High School, Goulas defended her crown in the triple jump (37 feet, 9.75 inches, more than 3 feet ahead of the next competitor), and won long jump (18-4.25) and high jump (5-0).

She was part of a historic win by the Crimson Tide, which secured the school’s first girls’ track and field state championship since 1988.

A week later, at the NHIAA Meet of Champions, Goulas won the long jump and triple jump and also ran a leg on Concord’s champion 4x100 relay.

Q: What’s your favorite part about the Track and Field team at Concord?

A: My favorite part about the track and field team at Concord is the atmosphere and coaching staff. They are always pushing to make their athletes the best they can and help us with everything.

Q: What was your favorite high school class?

A: My favorite high school class was all of the sciences and math classes.

Q: What excites you most about going on to Bryant University in the fall?

A: What excites me most is getting the opportunity to compete at the college level in track and field and to get an even higher level of training.

Q: How do you strike a balance between school and sports?

A: Having to balance sports and school has been something I’ve learned to love doing. After a long, stressful school day, track is the place I can release all of that stress and just be myself.

This has helped me a lot through high school, and I would go crazy if I wasn’t playing any sports. This is a big reason why I wanted to do track in college as well.

Q: What are your three favorite sports to play or watch, and why?

A: I love to play soccer and track and love to watch hockey the most, because it is fast-paced and I understand it. I like playing soccer because I love to run, and soccer is mainly running.

Q: How has doing your sport helped you grow as a person and a competitor?

A: Track has helped me grow as a person because it has let me learn to overcome losses and challenges. It taught me how to be a good teammate and have good sportsmanship.

Q: How do you unwind after a game or playing sports?

A: I unwind by listening to music on the ride home and eating a nutritious dinner or post-meet meal. I also get a good amount of sleep to revive my energy.

Q: What will you miss most about your time at Concord High?

A: I will miss my teammates and coaches the most, and be sad to not represent Concord High anymore.
