Start the new year right with a foray through the chronological and personal documentation of Riley B. King as presented by photographer Charlie Sawyer and partner in crime Cherie Hoyt.

This show has more than 60 photographs of the American monolith who is considered one of the most important guitarists of all time; a highly regarded figure in blues music from the 20th and early 21st century.

Charlie Sawyer, a Concord native, is often referenced in biographical content about B.B. as a result of his close friendship and authorized biographies and photostories released with permission from the estate and B.B. himself.

The exhibition will run from January 5 to February 27, allowing for original prints to be purchased either outright or through payments. Kimball Jenkins will host a reception on Friday, Jan. 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a mini Q&A lead by Yasamin Safarzadeh featuring Charlie Sawyer. Live music and refreshments will be available to those in attendance.

The Concord Historic Society will be featuring a talk by Charlie Sawyer on February 9 with a performance by Charlie’s band, 2120 S Michigan Ave from 7 to 9 p.m.. Both of these events will take place on the grounds of Kimball Jenkins at 266 N. Main St. in Concord.
