Manchester-based Brady Sullivan Properties has agreed to pay a $25,000 penalty to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for lead paint violations at its American Wire Residential Lofts in Pawtucket, R.I.

Brady Sullivan owns hundreds of apartment units in Rhode Island, including properties in Warren, Providence, Coventry and in Pawtucket.

The EPA reached a settlement with American Wire LLC, a Rhode Island corporation controlled by Brady Sullivan, over violations of the Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule during a 2020 renovation at the American Wire Residential Lofts property in Pawtucket.

The settlement is the second reached by the Manchester company and the EPA over lead violations. In 2017, it reached a settlement over the restoration project of the Lofts at Mill West in Manchester.

According to the EPA, the violations included failure to use a Rhode Island Lead Hazard Control licensed firm, which is required for companies that perform renovations that disturb painted surfaces in housing built before 1978 presumed to contain lead. EPA also alleged that the company failed to ensure that a certified lead renovator was designated as the person responsible for oversight of each renovation project in a building being renovated for residential occupancy
