Chichester Central School will welcome Tanya Teeboom as its new principal in the fall.

After current principal Jessica Wilson announced at the start of April that she would not be returning next year, the district undertook a search for her replacement.

With 28 years of experience as an educator, Teeboom currently serves as principal of Birch Hill Elementary School in Nashua. A lifelong Nashua resident, she attended Keene State and received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education before teaching 5th grade in the Nashua public schools for two decades. Teeboom eventually went on to obtain a Masters in Educational Administration and transitioned into a career as an administrator.

“Throughout her career, Tanya has been known for her strong problem-solving skills, collaborative leadership style, and unwavering commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students,” Jack Finley, superintendent of SAU 53, wrote in a statement to the Monitor. “She has led initiatives to improve student achievement, implemented behavior intervention supports, and fostered a positive and inclusive school culture for both students and teachers.”

The principal selection process involved four rounds of interviews, including an interview committee, a staff and community meet-and-greet, site visits, and a school board interview.

“We believe that Ms. Tanya Teeboom will bring exceptional leadership and dedication to our school community,” Finley wrote in a statement to the school community earlier this week. “We look forward to welcoming her and working together to support our students and staff.”
