Girls’ Tennis

Concord 6, Manchester Memorial 3

Key players: Concord –  Rosie Currie (demonstrated ability to split step, recover to baseline, and chase down all opponents’ shots).

Highlights: Our returning top-six players, Grace Ferguson and Alex Grappone, demonstrated how to keep emotions at bay in their wins. Yangchen Sherpa played her first top six match and was victorious.

Coach’s quote: “Memorial is a similar team to Concord, technically and mentally. They are always good competitors, and Coach Natasha works hard with a large roster there. It was a cold afternoon with all the usual first match jitters. Lots to work on before we play Spaulding on Monday.”  – Concord’s Greg Malette

Records: Concord 1-0; Memorial 0-1

Bow 9, Manchester West 0

Key players: Bow – Jaden Glace (8-2 win at No. 1), Grace Modzeleski (8-0 win at No. 2), Katie McCabe (8-0 win at No. 3), Sudy Chakraborty (8-0 win at No. 4), Rachel Pelletier (won 8-1 at No. 5), Maddie Kiniry (won 8-1 at No. 6).

Highlights: Glace and Modzeleski won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, and McCabe and Chakraborty, and Pelletier and Kiniry both won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respetively, to lift the Falcons to a season-opening win on their home courts.
