After a long search, Concord High School has officially announced its new athletic director.
Stephen Largy will replace Steve Mello, who recently retired after holding the position of director of physical education, health and sport for the last 16 years.
Most recently, Largy was the dean of students at Goffstown High School. He’s also coached basketball, football and baseball both in Goffstown and in Nashua.
“We believe that Stephen’s leadership will positively impact our student-athletes, fostering a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth,” CHS principal Tim Herbert said in an email to parents, obtained by the Monitor. “Thank you for your continued support of our school and athletic programs. We look forward to an exciting future under Stephen’s leadership.”
Largy has taught at the middle school and high school levels for 15 years, spent four years as an administrator and 18 years in coaching.
In addition to the traditional responsibilities of an athletic director, Largy will also likely have a big voice in discussions about the ongoing Memorial Field project, a joint partnership between the city of Concord and the Concord School District.
