Fall leaf collection is ongoing in Concord as crews look to erase the signs of fall before winter moves in.

Bulk leaf collection began on Monday, Oct. 28, and workers started removing raked leaves from curbs with one crew beginning in the south end near the Bow town line and working north, a second at Blossom Hill Cemetery also working north, and a third starting on Mountain Road near Fairview Drive and working south along the east side of the Merrimack River, weather permitting.

The only scheduled collection is around Concord High School on Veterans Day so as to not interrupt school operations.

Leaves must be fully in the street, and cannot be placed around an obstruction, like a mailbox.

Parking on the street is discouraged between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day until collection is complete.

Bagged leaf collection begins on Nov. 18 and will run for three weeks. Bags are collected separately from trash and could happen anytime during the week, or behind trash collection depending on volume. Bags should be at the curb by Nov. 18, Nov. 25, and Dec. 2.

Bagged leaf collection isn’t weather-dependent, but residents are encouraged to be proactive to be ahead of any potential snow storms.

Beyond collection, alternative disposal methods include mulching leaves into the lawn, piling them in a wooded area on your property, bringing them to a local farm that’s accepting them, or dropping them off at the Fort Eddy Road Reprocessing Center, operated by Raymond’s Landscaping. Drop-off is free with proof of residency. As brush, branches and tree limbs are not accepted in the city’s collection, the reprocessing center can take them separately for a nominal fee.
