What was the highlight of your season?

This whole season was pretty great but a highlight would definitely be the Belmont Invitational. Both the boys and the girls team did really good, it was a really nice day and a lot of people ran a personal best. The night before we had a team dinner where we ate a lot of pasta, played table tennis and football, which made it even better!

Who was the unsung hero of your team?

All the people on the cross country team are super motivating and supportive but there is one senior who brings a lot of spirit to the team. Big Mase may not be the top boy on the team but he always comes to practice, even if he is not racing. He is also one of the best “cheerers.” He is always at the hardest part of the course when you need motivation the most cheering you on.

If you could improve high school cross country in New Hampshire, what would you do?

I don’t know what I could do to make NH XC any better... there are so many talented, kind athletes and dedicated coaches! Though it would be pretty cool if we had a smoothie stand (or Ben & Jerry’s!) at the end of each race.

Who is the funniest person on your team? What makes them funny?

The whole boys team is really funny. Their jokes are not that good but sometimes they do random things, like trying to set up the Kearsarge easy-up, and it is just funny watching them.

If someone was going to make a movie of your season, who would play your coach? Who would play you?

“Forrest Gump,” that is the only movie anyone on my team ever talks about, There were a lot of meets where our team and individuals would do really good, which reminds me of how Forrest succeeds in the military, shrimping business, and ping pong. Just like how Forrest never got to be with Jenny but he still had his son and the legacy of all of his accomplishments, Kearsarge was not the top school in D3 but overall we all had great seasons.

What are some misconceptions about your sport?

A lot of people think that everyone on cross country is a die-hard runner and they are super focused on their own performance. Even though XC is mostly an individual sport you do rely on your teammates to motivate you and going into bigger meets we try to help each other as much as possible so we can all run our best races and work together to place well as a whole. I get wicked excited when our whole girls team has really good races and we place higher than we did last year.

What movie can you watch over and over without getting tired of it?

Any Disney or Christmas movie.

When you are old, what do you think children will ask you to tell stories about?

I can’t think of anything super interesting about my life right now, but in the future I want to travel a lot so hopefully people will ask me about the different places I have been to.

Where do you get your news?

I don’t look at the news regularly but when I do its usually from my phone or the TV.

What movie quotes do you use on a regular basis?

I don’t really use any movie quotes regularly. There are a lot of random quotes around my room and I have a quote book that I look at sometimes when I am stressed out or need motivation.

If you built a themed hotel, what would the theme be and what would the rooms look like?

A Christmas themed hotel! The walls would be white and there would be Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling. I would put one of those really fuzzy white carpets on the floor and the beds would have Christmas themed bed spreads on them and lots of Christmas pillows! There would also be a Christmas tree, stockings, and a coffee/hot chocolate machine.

What would be the best thing you could reasonably expect to find in a cave?

A cave painting. It would be super cool to go into a cave and find an ancient painting.

If you could go to school in a foreign country, which country would you pick and why?

I cant really pick one place because I would want to go everywhere. Maybe somewhere in South America like Argentina or Chile because it looks so beautiful and it would be fun to try to communicate with other people in Spanish. I would also love to see all the different animals and just explore the outdoors.

What’s the opposite of a koala?

An octopus. I can’t really think of much they have in common.

What questions would you like to ask a time traveler from 200 years in the future?

I would definitely ask them if we have changed our lifestyles to help the earth last longer and if global warming and pollution is as big of a problem in the future as it is now. I would also ask if people have traveled or inhabited any other planets like Mars. Lastly, I would ask just what the daily grind is like in the future. Are jobs different? Living quarters? Flying cars?

If you were hired to show tourists what life is really like where you live, what would you show them / have them do?

I would bring them hiking around the Presidential Range and show them some of the best views in NH. I would also bring them nordic and alpine skiing!

What’s the most boring superhero you can come up with?

What’s the best thing about being a teen? What’s the worst?

The best thing is that you are given so many fun, new opportunities. The worst thing is that there is sometimes so much going on with school, sports, and friends that you stop doing some things that truly make you happy.
