What was the biggest challenge you or your team faced this season and how did you overcome it?

After the classic race at divisionals, we were projected to win the championship by a mere 3 points. We all needed to ski our hardest and have amazing races to win, and it was a real turning point for the team, and it was our chance to come together.

Who was the unsung hero of your team?

Ashley Bullard, the mother of Willow and Raven Strother (my teammates), was the unofficial assistant coach this season. She did yoga and strength with the team and attended every race, and even filled in for Coach O when he was unable to make it to MOCs. She put so much effort into the team, and it definitely made a huge difference in the season.

If you could improve high school skiing in New Hampshire, what would you do?

I would make the weather more reliable so that skiers could be certain to have a full season of good skiing.

Do you have any sports superstitions? If so, what are they?

Our team uses shea butter to protect from dry skin, windburn and chapped lips. We always put it on before races, and it was sort of a good luck charm.

What are some of the unwritten rules of your sport?

Don’t steal other people’s ski ties.

Who on your team, coaches included, reminds you of a character in a TV show or movie?

Sarah Seeley reminds me of Jessica Day from New Girl. They are both super bubbley and happy and always have a positive attitude.

What is something that is really popular now, but in five years everyone will look back on and be embarrassed by?

The video game Fortnight

Where do you get your news?

I get most of my news from CNN and Buzzfeed News.

What’s the most ridiculous fact you know?

The national animal of Scotland is the Unicorn.

What’s invisible but you wish people could see?

If you could go to school in a foreign country, which country would you pick and why?

I would go to school in Finland. I had to do a project on the Finish education system and it sounds amazing.

If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?

Swans. They always act like they’re better than you.

What questions would you like to ask a time traveler from 200 years in the future?

Does the world get more peaceful?

If you were hired to show tourists what life is really like where you live, what would you show them / have them do?

I would take them to every place you can swim in Sandwich. That’s the main thing to do in the summer, everyone is always going to the Beach of the Pothole.

What is the craziest thing one of your teachers has done?

My 8th-grade science teacher had us all carve pumpkins and bring them in, and then he blew them up in the classroom and broke a couple ceiling tiles. I have videos of these mostly controlled explosions and then a ceiling tile falling.

What’s the best thing about being a teen? What’s the worst?

Teens are expected to be super mature but at the same time, adults treat them like children. That’s the worst. The best is having so many possibilities at your fingertips without the majority of the responsibilities.
