PENACOOKParade meeting

■The next Penacook Memorial Day Parade Meeting is on March 13, at 6 p.m., in the Media Center at Penacook Elementary School. The parade, sponsored by Penacook Village Association, is scheduled for May 28 at noon. Volunteers are needed for planning prior to the parade as well as on parade day.

■The Capital City Sunrise Rotary Club meets every Thursday morning, from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m., at the Washington Street School Learning Center, 26 Washington St. All are welcome to come and learn about what Rotary does in our communities and around the world.

■The Walker Lecture Series invites you to see Marlin Darrah, the world’s most traveled filmmaker, on a dazzling voyage throughout the Mediterranean Sea. The event will be on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium is free. For more information, visit walkerlecture.org.

■The Concord Young Professionals Network (CYPN) invites local young professionals to join the upcoming networking event at Breezeline (41 N. ■During Lent, the volunteers at Bishop Brady High School will be offering the Fish Fry dinner again this year on Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dine-in or take-out is available. The chef is preparing your choice of fresh-baked or fried haddock, clam chowder, fish tacos, coleslaw and gourmet mac and cheese. Dinner starts at $16. SOUTH ENDCulinary Artist program

■The Capitol Center for the Arts recently started our Culinary Artist-in-Residence program! The first Culinary Artist in Residence is Batulo’s Kitchen, run by beloved local Concord Multicultural Festival Food Vendor, Batulo Mahamed, who specializes in Sambusa, known locally as Somali Meat Pies. Hours are Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

■The Friends Program will pilot a new Group Mentoring Program to complement its multi-faceted youth mentoring program. Enrollment is open for two cohorts targeting middle school-aged youth that will launch on March 29 and run through mid-May. All sessions will be held at the Heights Community Center in Concord.  To learn more, register or volunteer email ym@friendsprogram.org.

■Join CATCH Neighborhood Housing for their annual event, Making Community Home, on March 23 at 6 p.m! ■Celebrate the changing of the seasons with a beginner-level sunrise hike on March 20 at 7 a.m. This 2-mile loop generally takes about an hour to complete and has some great views of the Contoocook River and Daisy Beach. The Jim Hill Riverwalk trailhead is located at the end of Runnells Road. Spaces are limited. If you sign up but are unable to attend, please cancel your registration via Eventbrite or email classes@concordfoodcoop.coop to let us know so that someone else may join. Children under 18 are invited to participate if they are accompanied by an adult for the duration of the trail. Dogs are not allowed. ■Join the weekly Runner’s Alley, 142 N. Main St., group run that takes off from the store at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. There are 3 and 5-mile options. ■After your Thursday warm up race, go on Saturday at 8 p.m. for a Long Slow Distance with Runner’s Alley. They will host you as you prep for your half or full course. Start and end at the store. ■Bayada will explore the world of hospice and dive into some of the most common misconceptions that we hear from the community about the who, what, where, and how of hospice. They will answer your questions, even the ones you might be hesitant to ask, online on March 22 at 1 p.m. This free class is from GoodLife Programs & Activities and they will email you the Zoom link a day or two before the class.
