Letter: Herd mentality

Remember when it used to be the Republican Party? Now it’s the Trump Party. Politicians labeled as Republicans seem to feel they have to pass the Trump test on policies, becoming part of the “herd.”

Why would voters believe Kelly Ayotte, the presumed Republican nominee for NH governor, to be any different? She claims in her ads about abortion rights that she would honor the current standard in our state of 24 weeks availability.

Yet she supported a 6-week ban at the national level when she served in the Senate. She voted four times to defund Planned Parenthood. And she believed Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided and should be overturned.

If Trump is elected as president and pursues a national ban against abortion and access to birth control, do you really believe Kelly Ayotte would fight for the people of NH who strongly support the full range of reproductive choices?

Don’t be fooled. She’ll follow the herd.
