Epsom police Chief Wayne Preve was back at work Wednesday after a week of unpaid leave.

Preve was put on leave starting Jan. 3 by the select board for an undisclosed reason. At the time, town officials said they expected Preve to be back in a week.

A consultant from Meredith-based Municipal Resources Inc. stepped in for the police chief in the interim. A contract signed by the select board agrees to pay the company $68 an hour.
