A fire destroyed a Franklin home just after midnight Friday, but officials say nobody was injured.

Firefighters and police in the town responded to 26 Pleasant St. where they found flames licking out of the back of the two-story house.

Three occupants escaped the fire, officials say, and fire crews managed to contain the blaze enough to limit damage to surrounding homes. The home’s first floor was completely engulfed.

Franklin was assisted by area fire departments including Tilton-Northfield, Sanbornton, Andover, Concord, Belmont, Gilford, Laconia, New Hampton, Boscawen and Bristol.

In a press release, Franklin Fire Chief Michael Foss urges everyone to make sure their smoke detectors are operational and functioning.
