Friends Program celebrates work of long-time mentors

The Friends Program celebrated January as National Mentoring Month by recognizing its volunteers who mentor youth people.

Volunteers recognized for longevity include Susan Scarcello, nine years; Ann Hoey and Kathleen Conners, eight years; Karen Kelson, Mae Leonard and Jessica McNeff, seven years; Kerri Pratt, six years; and Cathy Gruette, Jeffrey Lockhard, Tim Sink and George Smith, with five years.

Special awards were also distributed. Jeanne Cusson earned the Master Mentor Award for mentoring three children over time. Carley Kanter earned the Site-based Impact Award by helping her mentee overcome challenges. Larry Fischer earned the Collaborators Award for 18 years of providing support and enthusiasm at the Friends Program on-site mentoring program at St. Paul’s School.
