Hopkinton at Gunstock Biathlon

Key players: Hopkinton – Matt Clarner (1st), Harrison Wilson (15th), Cam Bassett (16th)

Highlights:  The Hawks opened their season in a paintball biathlon race at Gunstock on Wednesday. Hopkinton competed against skiers from 14 other schools. Clarner picked up a narrow victory over Gilford’s AidenBondaz, leading a field of 80-plus skiers.

Key players: Concord – Tyler Watt (1st), Dean Ayotte (4th), Connor Crotty (19th), Lucky Doperalski (21st); Bow – Eli Wilkening (11th), Aiden Ciminesi (15th), Jack Kohl (23rd), Gabe Abberton (39th)

Highlights: Watt topped the field of 40 skiers in a 5K classic race at Plymouth Regional High School on Wednesday. Watt’s time of 18:14 was nearly 1:50 faster than the runner-up.

Girls’ Nordic Skiing

Highlights:  The Hawks competed against 14 other schools in a biathlon race at Gunstock on Wednesday.

Key players: Concord – France Lesser (8th), Chloe Gudas (10th), Phoebe Dater-Roberts (15th), Mahalie Burdette (16th); Bow – Ashe McKeen (22nd), Molly McCarthy (26th), Makaylie Laws (27th), Vera Virta (30th)

Highlights: Hosts Plymouth went 2-3-4 to win a four-team classic 5K race on its home course. Lebanon’s Annelies Hanna won in 21:10, while Lesser was the top area finisher in 26:09.

Boys’ Basketball

Coe-Brown 56, Kennett 43

Key players: Coe-Brown – Jack Matson (19 points, 10 rebounds), Quinn Salter (14 points, 7 rebounds), Connor Bagnell (10 points, 4 assists), Ryan Kouchoukos (10 assists, 9 rebounds)

Highlights: Coe-Brown had a two-point lead going into the fourth quarter, but held Kennett to two points in the fourth to extend its lead.

Key players: Franklin – Zeke McCoy (16 points), Harrison Kaplan (8 points)

Highlights:  The Tornadoes won their third in a row and their sixth in seven games. Franklin led 14-12 after the first quarter, but took control of the game in the second quarter to lead 33-18 at halftime.

Girls’ Basketball

Pinkerton 82, Concord 48

Key players: Pinkerton – Sidney Gedrossi (31 points), Liz Lavoie (26 points); Concord – Delaney Duford (16 points), Sofia Payne (14 points)

Highlights: The Astros hit 16 3-points in a commanding victory over the Crimson Tide.

Highlights: Kennett took a 27-13 halftime lead, but Coe-Brown went on a 15-8 run in the third to close the gap.

Highlights: The Hawks jumped out to an 11-4 lead after the first quarter, but Gilford then extended its zone and pressure defense, holding Hopkinton to 20% shooting on the night to hand the Hawks their first loss of the year.

Highlights:  The Falcons controlled the game, but couldn’t find the back of the net often despite many opportunities. However, Bow scored enough to earn its second consecutive victory.
