D-III Girls’ Basketball

No. 5 Monadnock 48, No. 12 Kearsarge 45, 2OT

Key players: Monadnock – Bailee Soucia (15 points, 5 steals), Ella Santaw (4 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks), Cainen Avery (10 points); Kearsarge – Naimah Wilson (19 points, 10 rebounds), Ava Shapiro (12 points, four 3s)

Highlights: After a tied game, 21-21 at halftime, Kearsarge took a 38-30 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Huskies tied it up to force overtime. The score was 40-40 after regulation and 42-42 after the first overtime, and Monadnock hit clutch free throws in the second OT to win Wednesday night’s preliminary round match.
