Baseball

Bedford 7, Concord 0

Key players: Concord  – Michael Barry (3.2 IP in relief, 0 R, 2 H, 3 K), Kale Washburn (2 hits)

Highlights: The Tide gave up three runs in the second inning and three in the fourth, and couldn’t muster any offense of its own in a loss to the Bulldogs. 

Coach’s quote: “Michael was fantstic in relief and we could not get the offense going, only getting two hits, both by Kale. We need to have a short memory (before our next game).”  – Concord’s Scott Owen

Highlights: Weed was in control all game and helped MV clinch its first win with a no-hitter.

John Stark 9, Hanover 0

Highlights: The Generals came out on top in a battle between two undefeated Division II teams and Philibotte outpitched Hanover’s ace, a duel between two of the best pitchers in D-II.

Coach’s quote: “Big test for us today and I couldn’t be happier with the performance from our guys. Hanover is a very good team and had a terrific pitcher on the mound today. We had some very competitive at bats all game, had one of our best games in the field yet, and of course got another stellar performance from Chase.” – John Stark’s Dennis Pelletier

Kingswood 19, Pembroke 6

Key players: Pembroke – Owen Stewart (2-for-4, triple, double, RBI, run), Devin Riel (3-for-3, double, walk, 2 RBI)

Highlights: The Spartans took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Kingswood took a 7-2 lead in the top of the third. Pembroke cut the Knights’ lead to 7-6 heading into the seventh, but Kingswood exploded for 12 runs in the final inning to emphatically decide the game.

Records: Kingswood 4-1; Pembroke 2-3

Mascoma 10, Hopkinton 8

Key players: Hopkinton – Michael DePiano (3.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 K), Bronson Ammann (2-for-3, double, walk, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Travis Windhurst (1-for-2, triple, walk, run, 3 RBI), Tad Stokes (1-for-2, walk, HBP, 2 RBI), Devin Allen (1-for-1, 3 walks, 2 runs), Jack Bennett (1-for-4, run, 2 SB), Kyle Buelte (1-for-3, walk, run, RBI)

Highlights: Ammann’s RBI double and Stokes’ RBI single in the top of the first, and a two-run triple by Windhurst in the third gave Hopkinton a 5-0 lead. Mascoma scored nine runs in the bottom of the third to give the Royals the lead before DePiano entered the game and threw 3.2 strong innings of relief to slow Mascoma’s attack. The Hawks plated two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth when freshman Bennett led off the inning with his first varsity hit and came home on an RBI single by Buelte. 

Coach’s quote: “This is definitely a tough loss, one that got away, especially being up 5-0 early and having one of our better offensive games so far this season. We will learn what we need to from this game to improve and be better as a team.” – Hopkinton’s Kevin Hill

Softball

Key players: Concord – Bailey Cassin (perfect game, 11 K; RBI, walk), Andie Moreira (3-for-3, walk, SB, 3 runs), Kiley Taylor (2 hits, 2 RBI), Avery MacDonald (hit, run), Maggie Taylor (double, walk, SB, 2 runs), Tess Bolduc (hit, walk, SB, RBI, 2 runs), Jaylyn Wessling (hit, RBI, run), Laura Lorenze (hit, run), Natalee Rowell (double, run), Ella Gray (2 walks), Ella Chrabolowski (run, SB), Emerson Frazier (2 runs)

Highlights: Concord plated six runs in the top of the first and Cassin took care of the rest. The freshman fired a perfect game, striking out 11 in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule. Cassin allowed just four balls to be put in play, none out of the infield.

Key players: MV – Nora Lyford (6 IP, 3 H, 2 K), Kayla Smith (save, 1 IP, 2 K; 1-for-3), Caydence Allberg (1-for-2, RBI; defense), Katelyn Herrmann (1-for-3; defense)

Highlights: Smith scored the only run of the game in the first inning after she was driven home by Allberg. Lyford picked up the win in the circle by keeping the Sanborn hitters off balance while her teammates played outstanding defense. Smith closed out the game in the seventh, striking out two.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Bishop Guertin 13, Concord 1

Key players: Concord – Emma Pelletier (goal), Tadu Sirois (10 saves), Macy Sprague (defense), Kyla Ngu (defense)

Highlights: Concord held BG to just four goals in the first period.

Coach’s quote: “Another tough top four team in BG. We played defense pretty much the entire game and could not get our offense going to produce much. Girls continue to work hard and not give up despite the record and scores.” – Concord’s Mike Zahn
