Hot topic: Voters will be asked to spend $100,000 to remove and replace the sidewalks in Hill’s village district. While the select board recommends this article, the budget committee does not. Meeting minutes show the budget committee is concerned about this article negatively impacting Hill’s tax rate.

Budget: The proposed operating budget is recommended to be $992,200 by the select board and $988,916 by the budget committee, up from $972,410 from last year.

Noteworthy articles: One article is asking voters to spend $54,000 to help pay for a $124,000 backhoe, with the other $70,000 coming from the highway heavy equipment capital reserve fund. Another article is proposing to reduce the number of elected budget committee members to nine – currently there are ten members, plus four vacant positions.

When and where: The town meeting will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Jennie D. Blake Elementary School.
