Letter: Trump helicopter story sign of serious mental confusion

During his Mar-a-Lago press conference, Donald Trump lied in ways that his base might see as clever politics, like when he said no one was killed during the Jan. 6 riot at the United States Capitol. But was he lying or just mentally confused? At the press conference, he also told such a wacky story that if your Pappy kept saying it was true, the family would begin serious discussions about his mental health. To disparage Kamala Harris he said: “I know Willie Brown very well. In fact, I went down in a helicopter with him. We thought maybe this is the end…there was an emergency landing. This was not a pleasant landing and Willie was, he was a little concerned. So I know him pretty well. I mean I haven’t seen him in years but he told me terrible things about her,” then he rambled on and on.
Trump’s brain was playing mental tricks that he couldn’t control. Politico reports that years ago Trump was in a helicopter that made an emergency landing. He was accompanied by Nate Holden, a Black former Los Angeles city councilman and state senator. Not Willie Brown. Others on the helicopter confirm it was Holden. Willie Brown says he never went on a helicopter with Trump. Some of us get confused as we age, it never gets better, only worse. It’s sad to watch, but with each public appearance it becomes more apparent that Trump is no longer mentally qualified to be president.
