Letter: The great Inspectors General firing

President Trump fired 17 Inspectors General this past Friday. I had to research to find out what they do. They investigate government departments to ferret out waste, fraud and illegal activity. They need to be independent from the party in power. In 2022, a law was passed to require that good reasons be given for replacing them at least 30 days before they are fired. The Trump White House ignored the law. I wish President Trump would not get away with it. More importantly, I wrote to both our senators encouraging them to “grill the nominated replacements until they are charred toast if they cannot show they will be independent of the MAGA or any party.” You should contact them to request the same. Just search up ‘contact Jeanne Shaheen’ or ‘contact Maggie Hassan.’
