Letter: Warmington fights for health of NH

As a physician, three healthcare issues are of particular concern to me now: the mismanagement of COVID-19, the threat to the Affordable Care Act, and the assault on reproductive rights.

The state’s Executive Council touches all these issues, and that’s why I am voting for Cinde Warmington for Executive Council District 2. Cinde will fight for a humane and public health-led rebuilding from the pandemic, for health coverage for all, and for reproductive freedom.

Cinde has 40 years of professional healthcare experience in hospitals, laboratory medicine and as an attorney. She and I share a commitment to providing psychosocial support to vulnerable and marginalized populations. I worked for years caring for people and families coping with serious medical illness while Cinde has a long record of volunteer work as a mental health advocate. The impact of the pandemic on mental health conditions and services, particularly as they impact the most vulnerable, requires urgent attention now and will well into the future.

The Executive Committee confirms judges to our state courts. If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade and/or strikes down the Affordable Care Act, very soon our state courts may hold in their hands the fate of rights that NH citizens have long relied on.
