Concord beauty salon, Peter’s Images, closed suddenly in January after being in business for 50 years.

“To all of our clients and friends: the sad day has come that we have had to close our doors,” the owners announced on social media.

“Please understand that this decision was a hard one to make, but all good things must come to an end, as they say,” the owners said. “We want to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for over 50 years of patronage!”

Across the street, Alyssa McClary of Penumbra said that about two or three weeks ago a sign reading, ‘business closed,’ suddenly went up.

An occasional confused customer with an appointment at Peter’s has stopped in at her shop across the street to ask if the salon will be reopening. McClary said she hasn’t seen Peter Kapos, the owner of the salon, around since the sign went up.

Attempts by the Monitor to reach Kapos were unsuccessful.

The cherished salon has occupied the corner of North State and Warren Street since 1973. They offered hair, nail, massage, and aesthetician services and were hiring in November. Freshly renovated in 2020, the full-service salon space is now listed for lease, including a clientele database transfer.

“We’ve served multiple generations of families, watched families grow, and children become grown adults starting families of their own,” the company posted on Facebook. “Bottom line, your continuous support over the years is something we appreciate more than you know, but your trust and friendship we will cherish forever.”
