Loudon wants some new vehicles, like a $150,000 excavator with a trailer, a $75,000 road tractor, and a $60,000 police cruiser.

Voters will be asked to give the town permission to buy those things this Saturday at the annual Town Meeting. Residents will face a number of other questions, including whether to install a solar array at the Clough Hill Fire Station, and approving a community power plan for the town.

A petitioned warrant article asks the town to spend $95,000 for new playground equipment to be installed at the recreation fields. Another one demands that all votes in every election be recorded on paper ballots and counted by hand.

The biggest spending item before voters is the $6.5 million operating budget. The meeting will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Loudon Elementary School.
