Amherst resident and author Sarah Stewart released her third novel earlier this spring.

Love along the Esplanade is a light romantic comedy with a twist. Sydney Graham, a pragmatic relationship coach believes romance novels are fairy tales. She is launching her first self-help book when she becomes entangled with Ty Kent a wildly successful romance novelist.

“I just really liked the premise of a pragmatic relationship coach versus a romance novelist,” she said. “I like the two very different points of view on the same subject, relationships.”

The book is available on Amazon.

Before moving to Amherst, Stewart resided in Boston, the setting for her first two books. She published her first book, Broken in the Back Bay in 2015 and her second, Strangers on Newbury Street just a year later.

Stewart’s writing career began about ten years ago when she frequently traveled while she worked in healthcare sales.

“Writing was what I did while I was bored in my hotel room or on a plane,” she said. “Now I have a very quiet space in my home where I do most of my writing.”

Much like her character, Sydney Graham, Stewart is a life coach and has a blog called

“I spent over 24 years working in behavioral healthcare and addiction. I have a master’s degree in social work and am a certified professional coach. I love helping people and writing. So I am lucky to be able to pursue those passions with coaching and writing,” she said.

Stewart spends her free time focusing on fitness, paddle boarding and enjoying any beach. She lives with her husband of five years. The two had known each other since they were 10 years old.

“He jokes that he joined Facebook to find me. The rest is history,” she said.
