Letter: Liberty in America

Like many Westerners, I was dismayed to see how fleeting our democracy and freedom seemingly was during COVID and the Biden years. All these assumptions about free speech, due process, and basic American freedoms were brushed aside by left-wing tyrants all in the name of “your own good,” locking us in our houses, masking our children, and dragging surfers off beaches all to protect us from a virus created in Wuhan. Those were very dark days for us libertarians who had vested so much faith in our Constitutional republic. And to our north, Canada was no better, locking up truck drivers and dragging people from their homes for daring to gather together on New Year’s Eve.

So it is heartening to see the great reawakening that is happening now with the restoration of Trump, and the soft fascism of Pierre Trudeau crumbling before our very eyes. The left-wing information police predicted Elon Musk would destroy Twitter, instead he destroyed them. Twitter (X) now is the media, and unfortunately for Fidel Trudeau, it reaches into Canada too. Free speech and the American Constitution survived a full-on, concerted, globalist government-led assault and will emerge even stronger. Liberty is again on the rise and the soft-tyranny of the left is in full retreat.
