Junior Katie Meserve scored a game-high 21 points as the Hopkinton girls’ basketball team continued its hot start to the new season with a 56-39 win over Campbell on Thursday in Contoocook.

The Hawks (3-0) jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and used that cushion to control the pace from there.

“We played very well in spurts,” Hopkinton coach Pat Roye said. “We moved the ball and got some high-percentage shots. It was a nice effort by the Hawks.”

Chipping in alongside Meserve were senior Amelia Thomas and sophomore Maurgan McGrath. Thomas finished with 11 points and four steals, while McGrath added nine points and four rebounds.

Hopkinton returns to action Wednesday, hitting the road to face Raymond.
