Henniker’s Tucker Free Library was named this year’s Library of the Year by the New Hampshire Library Trustees Association, the organization announced Thursday.
The award recognizes a library demonstrating expansion and improvement in services and technology and having proven value to the community.
“Everyone in Henniker should feel the enormous pride that this honor brings to our community,” said Library Director Lynn Pitrowicz. “Being named Library of the Year recognizes the hard work of the entire team – trustees, staff and the community members--to build a successful library program.”
The award will be given in a ceremony at the library on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public.
The Tucker Free Library has been open in Henniker for 114 years and carries a collection of 18,990 volumes. Fifty-three percent of the collection has been added since 2011.
