Jim Cilley (Pembroke Pines CC) is still tied atop the New Hampshire Mid-Amateur Championship leaderboard through two rounds at Concord Country Club, but this time with a different opponent.

Cilley and Matt Burroughs (Derryfield CC) are the two golfers the remainder of the field will be chasing down in the final round on Thursday. Both golfers sit at one-under par through 36 holes and have a two-shot cushion on the remaining golfers.

Burroughs, the first golfer to post a one-under total, shot an even-par 70 in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday. He bested that score in the second round on Wednesday by shooting 69, one-under par, which was one of two under-par rounds of the day. Brett Wilson also recorded a 69 and now sits five shots back of Burroughs and Cilley.

Cilley will look to finish the job to capture his second Mid-Amateur title. Cilley made the turn at one-over par, having started on the back nine. With just one birdie and one bogey on his second nine, he finished with a 71, one-over par. For Concord CC, being close to even-par for a round is a great score and it allowed him to maintain his position at the top of the leaderboard.

Concord Country Club’s Will McLaughlin, who was tied with Cilley at the top following the first round, is not far behind though. He shot three-over par, 73 in the second round to drop back two shots, but he is still within reach of the title.

The final round of the New Hampshire Mid-Amateur Championship gets underway at Thursday at 8:30 a.m. The field was cut to 27 golfers after Wednesday’s second round, with those shooting 12-over par or better are advancing on to the final 18 holes.
