NHTI celebrates poetry with NH Literary Award finalist Jessica Purdy

NHTI’s 23rd annual Celebration of Poetry will be held this Thursday, April 18, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Campus Commons Library (31 College Drive, Concord).

It will feature NH Literary Award Finalist Jessica Purdy, who will be reading and discussing her poetry.

Jessica Purdy (MFA) is the author of two books of poetry and three chapbooks. Sleep in a Strange House (Nixes Mate) was a finalist for the NH Literary Award (2019). Her most recent chapbooks are: The Adorable Knife: poems based on The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death (Grey Book Press), and You’re Never the Same: Ekphrastic Poems (Seven Kitchens Press).

Having majored in both English and Studio Art, she loves writing about art. Her new manuscript Lung Hours has been a finalist for three contests including the Granite State Poetry Prize and Codhill Press’ Guest Editor Poetry Series 2023. Her poems have been nominated for Best New Poets and Best of the Net. She teaches Poetry Workshops at NHTI and Creative Writing at SNHU.
