The New London Barn Playhouse will be opening its doors tonight for its 87th season with an annual Straw Hat Revue.

Enjoy a selection of music from the upcoming season plus some popular show tunes.

The Straw Hat Revue is the first chance for audiences to meet the 15-member acting intern company. The interns who will live and work at the Barn for the summer include Caroline Attayek of Elon University, Bradley Betros of Florida State University, Matthew Carp of the Hartt School, Nick Cortazzo of Baldwin Wallace University, Cara Dipietro of Elon University, Lauren Echausse of Penn State University, Stephanie Everett at Dartmouth College, Darron Hayes of Penn State University, Hannah Hunt of the University of Oklahoma, Sabrina Koss of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Rhonnirose Mantilla of Baldwin Wallace University, Haley McCormick of Elon University, Justin Norwood of Elon University, Trevin Park of Otterbein University, and Alec Michael Ryan of Elon University.

The Revue will be staged Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are free, but only available in person or by telephone order.

The 2019 season will include:

“The Pajama Game” (June 12 to 23): The Tony Award-winning musical follows the employees of the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory. The new superintendent bumps heads with union leader Baby Williams over pay increases but things change when fiery contempt turns to passion.

“Peter and the Starcatcher” (June 26 to July 7): This next musical is a retelling of the classic Peter Pan story. There’s the same orphaned Peter and island, but also a wicked king, a secret on a ship and the pirate Black Stache.

“The Odd Couple” (July 10 to 14): Like many theaters, the Barn this summer will be performing a tribute to American playwright Neil Simon, who died last August. In this comedy, uptight Feliz Ungar and disheveled Oscar Madison are forced to share a life  together.

“Grease” (July 17 to Aug. 4): Grab your saddle shoes, poodle skirts and leather jacket for this rockin’ musical. The Barn is bringing you to Rydell High and into Danny and Sandy’s teen love story.

“Catch Me If You Can” (Aug. 7 to 18): This musical retells the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr. who conned millions of dollars and posed as a Pan Am pilot, a doctor and a legal prosecutor, all before turning 20.

“The Marvelous Wonderettes” (Aug. 21 – Sept. 1): Big hair and big-hit songs are the highlights of this musical. On the night of prom, in 1958, the women fight to be the Prom Queen. Ten years later at their high school reunion, there are old scores to settle and final concert to be had.

The Children’s Theatre series will include Around the World, The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, A Midnight Summer’s Dream, Princess K.I.M. and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

As part of the Center for the Arts First Friday nights, the New London Barn Playhouse will be open Friday night from 5 to 7 p.m. for an open rehearsal of The Pajama Game followed by a Q&A session and refreshments on the porch. Also a part of the First Friday will be a display of photography and opening reception for photographer Garret Evans at Whipple Hall from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The events are free and open to the public.
