Four people were arrested on felony riot charges in Northfield on Friday night.

The brawl began on the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Park Street and Dearborn Road, according to a press release from the Northfield Police Department. A caller reported the fight at approximately 7:42 p.m.

“Officers from Northfield responded and found a chaotic scene with several individuals actively fighting, and several more people watching and attempting to separate the individuals,” police said.

Officers from the state police and Tilton came to assist. They broke up the fight and arrested four people:

Trevor Hoyt, 20, of Stuart, Fla., and formerly of Northfield, charged with riot, disorderly conduct and breach of bail conditions;

Demetrius Furse, 33, of Indian Town, Fla., charged with riot, resisting arrest and operating without a valid license;

Justin Gebo, 21, of Northfield, charged with riot, disorderly conduct, obstructing government administration and two counts of resisting arrest;

James Weatherbee, 21, of Northfield, charged with riot, disorderly conduct, obstructing government administration and resisting arrest.

The accident was later determined to be separate from the fight, the police said. One driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, and Park Street was closed for a short time.

The incident is still under investigation.

“The key is, we’re looking at video to see if there are any other people involved, and there’s the potential for two more arrests,” Sgt. James McIntire said Saturday.
