The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office has identified Jake Dube as the officer involved in a police shooting that left a 25-year-old man hospitalized in Keene last week.

Dube, an officer in the Keene Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a “person in distress” on April 29. He discharged his firearm once, shooting Cullen Costa in the chest area, according to the Attorney General’s office.

Costa remains hospitalized in a stable condition as he recovers from the gunshot wound. No officers were injured during the encounter.

Dube has three years of law enforcement experience. The Attorney General’s Office has launched an investigation to determine whether the use of deadly force was justified, a process that could take several months or even longer, depending on the complexity of the case and the number of witnesses involved.

Officials say no further information is expected until the investigation is complete.

This marks the fourth officer-involved shooting in New Hampshire so far this year.
