NASHUA – Authorities have released the names of the three police officers who used force in the fatal shooting of a Pelham man outside the Lowe’s at 143 Daniel Webster Highway two weeks ago.

Ryan Prudhomme, 41, of Pelham died of a single gunshot wound to the chest outside the home improvement store on June 2, an autopsy performed by the state’s chief medical examiner confirmed.

Nashua officer Joshua Martin used deadly force when he discharged his firearm at Prudhomme, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said in a statement.

Martin was hired by Nashua Police Department as a first-year special officer, according to Nashua police public documents.

Officers Jay Atchue and Rick Byron also discharged less-lethal weapons, firing 40-millimeter direct impact rounds and beanbags, he added.

The man died from injuries sustained from being shot despite the lifesaving measures attempted, authorities previously said.

Officers had initially responded to the Lowe’s around 8:45 p.m. on a report from the Pelham Police Department to be on the lookout for Prudhomme, who was armed when he left his home earlier in the evening.

Prudhomme had a handgun when officers encountered him outside Lowe’s, authorities said.
