Police have identified two young Concord women who were killed in an accident on Interstate 93 in Canterbury last week.

Nelly Uwituze, 24, and Butonga Zawadi, 25, were traveling south on the highway when their vehicle veered left, went off the roadway and down an embankment, state police said.

The vehicle struck a tree on its passenger side and both women died on impact, officials said. Uwituze was driving at the time. The crash occurred about 3:15 p.m. Friday.

Canterbury Fire and Rescue and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation assisted state police at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

State police ask that anyone who witnessed the crash contact Trooper Nicholas Post at 223-8953.
