The show will go on in Plymouth

Downtown Plymouth suffered a devastating fire last week, one that changed the face of Main Street, and threatened our more than 100-year-old entertainment venue, The Flying Monkey. Our theater was filled with more than 450 guests, musicians, and staff, when one of our employees discovered that a fire had started at a neighboring building. Our staff called 911, pulled the fire alarm at The Flying Monkey, and safely and calmly evacuated everyone in just over three minutes. Plymouth police and fire departments were on scene quickly, and were joined by dozens of first responders from surrounding communities who worked tirelessly to put out two building fires, while protecting The Flying Monkey from meeting the same fate. Our staff and the emergency personnel who responded are true heroes. We are so proud of them for their quick thinking, fast action, and tireless efforts that night. Foreigners Journey and lead singer Constantine Maroulis were stopped mid-set by the fire alarm, and assisted our crew in calmly asking guests to evacuate. We are grateful to them as well.

We appreciate the outpouring of support from our local Plymouth community and beyond. We’ve heard from neighbors, guests, musicians, and others who have reached out to offer any help we need. Thank you for being there for us. The Flying Monkey prides itself in being the heartbeat of Main Street, providing top-rate entertainment and a place for our community to gather, right in downtown Plymouth. Our marquee will shine bright and our hall will be filled with the sounds of music and laughter once again, thanks to the valiant efforts of all. Because of you, the show will go on!
