An open letter to all Republican members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives: I read on InDepthNH.org that during Convening Day on Wednesday, Jan. 6, you reviewed and established your 2021 House rules. Despite strong opposition (really not “frivolous and circus-like political games” as later characterized by Majority Leader Jason Osborne, R-Auburn), these are some of the debate results to institute the House rules:
■No on continuing to require sexual harassment and hostile work environment awareness training.
■No on explicitly prohibiting alcohol consumption during House sessions.
■No on prohibiting firearms during House sessions.
■No on explicitly prohibiting hate speech by House members.
Are you serious?
In effect, you are telling this New Hampshire woman – no, all New Hampshire constituents – that, while doing the people’s business, you can all throw back a few “brewskies” and have some “locker room talk.” (“Hate speech, whatcha gonna do about it?”)
I insist on the resignation of the entire Grand Old Party.
