Letter: Invest in our kids

Published: 11/27/2018 12:01:10 AM

I am a longtime children’s librarian, having served in public schools and at my local town library. I believe that early childhood is supremely important to all educators. The wonder and magic of this age group reflects the incredible arc of learning and intellectual development that occurs.

As a volunteer with the Save the Children Action Network, I know how support for early childhood education can generate positive, long-term effects for kids. By enrolling children in high-quality early-learning programs at an early age, we can ensure they will get a strong start in life.

I urge the state Legislature and Gov. Chris Sununu to work together to make improving accessibility and effectiveness of New Hampshire early learning programs a top budget priority in 2019.

Kids may be only a quarter of our population, but they are 100 percent of our future.
