Letter: Climate concerns

It’s wonderful to see increasing coverage of climate concerns in the Monitor! A recent example among numerous commentaries and letters, is Jamie Henn’s piece, “Who pays for climate disasters,” (12/27/23). Beyond the costs of the disasters, Henn points out the losses of revenues by New Hampshire ski areas, and other concerns such as sea level rise and fossil fuel air pollution.

I want to add that the impacts extend well beyond those mentioned. Our entire New Hampshire way of life is suffering. There’s not room to list all the impacts here, but to add just a few, there are the algae blooms, the suffering of agriculture, the loss of winter activities other than skiing, the flash floods, the spread of invasive species, the too-wet snow, the road ice, and much more. Bottom line, we need our elected officials to show more climate leadership!
