After several weeks of scrambling in search of a location, the Concord Ski and Skate Sale finally has a home. It will take place this Saturday at the closed Sears store at the Steeplegate Mall.

Organized by the Capital Ski and Outing Club, it’s a great way to buy skis, skates and other winter sports gear for a discounted price. The money raised from the sale goes toward maintaining cross-country skiing areas in the Concord area, including at White Park, Memorial Field and the Beaver Meadow Golf Course. Funds also help support the Concord High School and Rundlett Middle School Nordic teams.

The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The entrance to the sale will likely be the one nearest to Applebee's restaurant and Loudon Road. The entrance to Sears from inside the mall will not be accessible as the interior remains closed to the public.

Anyone wishing to sell used downhill or nordic ski equipment, hockey gear and skates, snowboard and snowshoes, or winter clothing and equipment in good condition may drop them off at the sale location from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday night.

The club is still looking for volunteers to help with the sale on Saturday and with clean up on Sunday when they return unsold equipment and break down after the sale. Anyone interested in volunteering can email concordskiskatesale@gmail.com.

The old Sears store, which closed in early 2020, has been used as an emergency vaccination site during the pandemic and recently as a pop-up Halloween store.
