Pound-for-Pound: Pembroke boys’ hoops on the rise with recent play

TEAM (last week’s rank)

1. JOHN STARK-HOPKINTON HOCKEY (1)  is 9-0 after a 4-1 win vs. Kennett behind Jameson Bourque’s 35 saves, including his 1,000th.

2. CONCORD WRESTLING (3)  improved to 14-0 with Friday’s 60-18 win against Nashua South and two out-of-state wins Saturday.

3. CONCORD GIRLS’ HOCKEY (4)  is 8-0 but has three games in three days this week, starting on Monday at home vs. 8-1-1 Berlin.

4. KEARSARGE GIRLS’ NORDIC (7)  the D-III Cougars took down 10-time defending D-I champ Concord in a 4-team meet on Friday.

5. KEARSARGE GIRLS’ ALPINE (6)  put four skiers in the top 10 to finish first in a 12-team meet on Tuesday at Mount Sunapee.

6. PEMBROKE BOYS’ HOOP (10) is tied with Oyster River for first place in Division II at 7-1 after Friday’s 70-60 win at Souhegan (6-2).

7. CONCORD BOYS’ HOCKEY (NR)  sits in second in D-I and is 8-1 after winning four straight; allowing just 0.78 goals per game.

8. KEARSARGE BOYS’ NORDIC (NR)  finished first in a four-team meet on Friday, beating good teams from Hopkinton and Concord.

9. BISHOP BRADY GIRLS’ HOOP (NR)  improved to 6-2 with Friday’s 64-53 win against Bow, hosts 9-0 Kennett on Monday at 2:30.

10. BOW WRESTLING (RV)  bounced back from its loss against Campbell with wins on Wednesday against White Mountains and Pelham.
