As some may know, November was Adoption Month in New Hampshire. As an adoptive and foster family, I want to take a moment to thank Gov. Chris Sununu and outgoing Commissioner of Health and Human Services Jeff Meyers for their hard work to help families like mine.
Thanks to their leadership, according to the New Hampshire Foster and Adoptive Parent Association 265 adoptions through DCYF were finalized in the state last year – an increase of 23%, which is the highest number on record. DCYF continues to make great efforts to find loving, stable forever homes, including the AdoptNH website and “matching events” in which children waiting for adoptive homes connect with potential families. They have also worked to increase financial support for foster and adoptive families.
I am thankful to the families who, like us, have opened their hearts and homes through the foster care and adoption of the children in New Hampshire. I am also thankful to Gov. Sununu and Commissioner Meyers for their work for children
