Allenstown

The Allenstown Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday, July 29 at 6 p.m. at the Allenstown Town Hall, 16 School St. The Allenstown Public Library Summer Reading Program on Thursday, August 1 at 11 a.m. will have a visit from Smokey the Bear and Forest Ranger. St. John the Baptist Parish Nurse will be unavailable on Tuesday, July 30, and August 6.

The Suncook Senior Center Arts and Crafts on Wednesday, July 31 at 10 a.m. will make a Flip Flop Craft. Bone Builders is held from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday. Bingo is held from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday. Klunk is held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Monday and Thursday. Chair Yoga is held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, and the cost is $5. Cribbage Club is held from 10:15 a.m. to noon on Tuesday.

Boscawen

Enjoy “Music in the Church Park” on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m., sponsored by the High Street Coffee House. Three great bands will be featured in the concert, including Bow Junction, Second Wind, and Country Comfort. This fun, family event is free, although a donation basket is passed. A variety of food from the grill will be available for purchase. The church park is located at the intersection of Routes 3 and 4. As the park has very little shade, sun protection is recommended. Also, bring your own chair. There will be help for those attendees who have mobility issues.

Are you looking for activities to do? Check out the passes for Boscawen Public Library patrons and receive discounted admission fees to the venue. Call or stop by the library to reserve passes for Squam Lake Science Center, Seacoast Science Center, Currier Gallery, and Discovery Center.

Children, accompanied by an adult, are invited to Craft Time at the Boscawen Public Library on Thursday at 2 p.m. Supplies will be provided for participants.

The Select Board and the Building Task Force will meet jointly on Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Town Office Building third-floor conference room.

Each Sunday at the Boscawen Congregational Church, all are invited to join others for the “live and in-person” worship service at 10 a.m. The service is also live-streamed on Facebook at 10 a.m.

The Bow Rotary free summer concert series has begun. This year’s concerts will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the town gazebo. In the event of inclement weather, the concerts will move inside the Community Building. The next concert is August 1 and features “Kid Pinky” – a hometown rock and four blues band. The following concert is August 8 and features “The Freese Brothers Big Band,” which honors the big band traditions of yesteryear. Plenty of good seats are still available for both concerts.

Congratulations to Cooper Larrabee, a four-year starting tight end for Beloit College, on being named to the Midwest Conference All-Academic Team. Larrabee led all league tight ends this past season with 40 receptions.

Chichester

The Chichester Fire and Rescue needs our help. On Monday, July 29, from 6 to 9 p.m., drop in at the fire station for their information night or call 798-5954. See how you can give back to our community. No qualifications are needed. Community Liaison Lieutenant Tim Johnson and other department members will be available to welcome you to the information night.

Old times are new times. Years ago, contra dancing was held in the hall above the historical society. It’s coming back again on August 17 at Old Home Day. After the Bean Hole Beans are served, Dudley Laufman and his fiddler Rivkah Valley will perform at Carpenter Park, showing all ages that music and contra dancing are for everyone to enjoy.

The Planning Board will meet on August 1 at 6:30 at the Grange Hall to hear the following applications: 376 Dover Rd. applied for a two-lot subdivision, 225 Dover Rd. for an updated Site Plan Review, 225 Dover Rd. for a new Site Plan, and 245 Horse Corner Rd. for a conditional Use Permit. Applications can be viewed at Town offices.

The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on August 6 during a regularly scheduled meeting to hear public input regarding a potential four-way stop intersection located at Main St., Canterbury Rd., and Center Rd.

Three educational teachers at Chichester Central School are looking for donations to upgrade their classrooms. Mrs. White is looking for funds in the amount of $725 to purchase a new rug for a gathering place to develop skills for her students. Mrs. Hunt is seeking $625 to buy educational kits and games that support reading and math skills. Mrs. Bird seeks a new rug and scoop chairs, and funds needed for this project are $800. If you can help, contact the school or gather information from the PTO.

What a great opportunity a Chichester student had this month when selected to sit in the cockpit for takeoff in a KC-46 Pegasus tanker. RJ Burris, 15 years old, earned the right for this chance during the annual Ace Academy summer aviation school experience in partnership with the FAA and Civil Air Patrol for this five-hour practice mission. RJ receives high school credits as part of this program, which he has been in for eight years, and will start flying lessons in the fall.

The Pembroke Academy summer basketball camp starts August 5 and runs for the week. Chichester 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys go from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and 7th, 8th, and 9th grade boys run from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with other feeder school students. Contact PA Coach Donnell by text at 603-703-1778.

Webster

The next First Congregational Church supper will be tonight, Saturday, July 27, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in the Grange Hall at the Town Hall (945 Battle St.). The supper will be baked ham with mashed potatoes, applesauce, carrots, green salad, American chop suey, and a variety of homemade desserts. Adults are $12, and children 15 and under are free. Suppers will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month through October. The meals are all homemade and help support the church.

The Hopkinton/Webster Transfer Station Dump Sticker Price will be increasing to $5.00 effective August 1, 2024. You need a Dump Sticker to use the Transfer Station.

The August Selectboard meetings will be on August 5 and 19. Items for the agenda must be in by July 31 for the August 5 meeting and on August 14 for the meeting on the 19th.
